
(Variety)- Stage, film and TV actress Mary Jackson, who played Miss Emily Baldwin on "The Waltons," died in Hollywood Dec. 10. She was 95. Born in Milford, Mich., Jackson taught school briefly before leaving Milford to pursue a theater career.
Through the 1940s and 50s, she worked in summer stock and on Broadway as well as stage productions in Chicago and Los Angeles. On Broadway, Jackson appeared in shows including "Kiss & Tell," "Eastward in Eden," "The Flowering Cherry" and "The Trial of the Canonsville Nine."
She worked primarily on TV through the 1950s and 60s, appearing in shows including "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," "My Three Sons," "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Barnaby Jones." She was best known for her role as Miss Emily on "The Waltons" which ran from 1971-1982. She also appeared in several Waltons specials which were produced until 1997.
