Samuel C. Johnson - the fourth generation and long the guiding force at SC Johnson & Son Inc.- was more than just the richest man in Wisconsin. Johnson was both entrepreneur and environmentalist. He believed in what he called the "inside out" theory: Take care of your own backyard and good things will spread out from there.
His backyard was Racine. The rest of the world was where good things should happen, too. Johnson died of cancer Saturday at his home in Wind Point, surrounded by his family. He was 76.
